Preexisting Condition Coverage

Are you confused about whether your preexisting conditions will be covered or not?

When I tell someone that their current medical conditions might not be covered by their health insurance plan, they get angry. I am glad I do most of my business over the phone, if you know what I mean. But the fact is, most carriers will be very careful to avoid covering your preexisting conditions.

I want to explain the facts of life to you from an unpopular point of view.

The insurance companies are ten steps ahead of you and know how to suck six cents out of a nickel. They will do everything possible to avoid paying a claim.

The simplest thing they can do to avoid claims is exclude your preexisting conditions. Think about for a second. If your car was smashed up and you called up a new insurance company to get a new policy, do you think they would now pay for your car? Of course not. How about getting hurricane insurance after the hurricane took your roof off? Same deal with health insurance.

So, you are asking (or possibly shouting), what the hell do I need coverage for? The answer is that you need coverage for the things that haven't hit you yet. You need it because you might be financially devastated if you had to pay $150,000 for a bypass procedure or even $35,000 to have your gall bladder out.

You also need it so that when you are checking into a hospital they treat you like a human being. Its sad but true.

All is not lost. Here are some facts:

1. Some plans will put temporary riders on your conditions and remove them after a period of time.

2. A few plans will make you pay extra premium but cover the condition after a year.

We have a new plan that will not put any riders on you at all. They will either take you or reject you. Plus their underwriting is reasonable. This is the plan you want if you have a preexisting condition. This is what you need to call me about.
